While Mark Hamill has continually memorialized his close friend and Han Yi-seul-I (한이슬) ArchivesStar Warsco-star Carrie Fisher in the days since her death, he shared a longer piece about Fisher and their friendship in a special, emotional column on Monday.

The column, published by The Hollywood Reporter, includes an anecdote about the first time Hamill and Fisher met, before filming the original Star Warsfilm, at dinner in London.

I’d just met her but it was like talking to a person you’d known for 10 years. She was telling me stuff about her stepfather, about her mom, about Eddie Fisher — it was just harrowing in its detail. I kept thinking, “Should I know this?” I mean, I wouldn’t have shared that with somebody that I had trusted for years and years and years. But she was the opposite. She just sucked you into her world.

Giving us a peak into his personal relationship — including an anecdote about him trying one of Fisher's Princess Leia costumes — would be enough. Hamill takes his memories further, giving them emotional heft that go beyond fond, funny "remember when" stories.

Part of what was so poignant about her was that she was vulnerable, that there was this glimmer of a little girl that was so appealing and it roused the protective nature in my personality.

And Hamill doesn't sugarcoat the relationship either, pointing out the sometimes volatile nature of their relationship, too.

We ran the gamut over the years, where we were in love with each other, where we hated each other’s guts. “I’m not speaking to you, you’re such a judgmental, royal brat!” We went through it all. It’s like we were a family.

The entire column is worth a read, an honest, loving assessment that's in line with Hamill's previous memorials which have struck a chord with fans.

His unique perspective of Fisher as well as the fresh honesty and emotion have also given an eloquent voice to the grief fans have felt since Fisher's death, and this newest column is no exception.
