Top-ranked Overwatchteam Rogue006 Archivesexpressed their annoyance with Major League Gaming for not inviting them to the upcoming Overwatchtournament at MLG Vegas. The $100,000 competition is taking place in the Steve Aoki-owned team's city, Las Vegas.

MLG Vegas is a two-day competition and esports celebration that will frun Dec. 16-18. Eight teams were selected to participate in the Overwatchtournament, two of which are foreign teams.

The issue was first raised publicly in a tweet from Rogue.

Rogue founder Frank Villarreal added that it was "pretty damn [ridiculous]" that Rogue didn't get an invite given their Las Vegas location. Villarreal also pointed out that Faze has only competed as a European team -- just like Rogue -- so region lock wasn't the issue.

Adam Apicella, head of esports operations for MLG, responded to Villareal with an explanation. It was an oversight, a product of the team's recent relocation to the United States.

Fans are sympathizing with both sides.

Mashable reached out to MLG for clarification on when invites went out and the criteria used to select teams.

In addition to the Overwatch competition, MLG Vegas will also feature a $100,000 Call of Dutytournament and an esports festival featuring surprise guests, live music and more. You can tune in December 16-18 via Twitch or MLG.
