That Morrissey,Anissa Kate the Widow XXX the English singer and ex-frontman of The Smiths, loves causing controversy is a well-known fact that surprises nobody in Britain.

Well, hardly anything surprises British people, but this time's an exception. This time Morrissey has stepped over a red line. And the Brits are fuming.

After defending Kevin Spacey and blaming the victims of Harvey Weinstein, Morrissey went after the country's most beloved national treasure. We are naturally talking about David Attenborough, the wildlife authority whose dulcet tones make watching Planet Earth and Blue Planet a life-changing experience.

In an interview with the Sunday Times, Morrissey, a longtime vegan activist who orders food stalls at his concerts to sell only vegetarian food, dared to question Attenborough's real love for animals.

“It was beautiful but I don’t know about Attenborough’s regard for animals,” he said in reference to BBC 2's The Culture Show poll in 2006 that voted Morrissey Britain's second most important cultural icon after Attenborough.

“He often uses terms like ‘seafood’ and there’s no such thing as seafood. It’s sea life, and he talks about ‘wildlife’ and it’s free life. Animals are not wild simply because we pathetic humans haven’t shoved them in a cage, so his terminology is often up the pole.”

Maybe Morrissey was just venting his frustration, but it definitely didn't go well with Attenborough fans on Twitter:
